It has taken the better part of Seven Years, after gaining approval, to use salvaged Steel from the World Trade Center disaster to build and Christen a Warship.
I can think of NO BETTER WAY to avenge the lives lost in the horrible tradegy of 09-11-01. I SAW , as the National News film caught up with the disaster IN PROGRESS, watching in sureal ( it wasn't really hapening...,) stunned belief as an American airliner steered directly into the last tower.
NOTHING could ever be said, or done, to describe or even CONVINCE many of the attack of the Twin Towers. YET, out of the smoke, ash and tears came an idea. That idea took shape in the form of a Warship called the "U.S.S. New York." Steel, carefully refined, rolled and riveted, formed a critical portion of this vessel.
MORE than a symbol, a constant reminder for as long as "she" is seaworthy, of American
Resolve, American Courage, the U.S.S. LPD-21, "USS New York" takes to the Sea.
GOD BLESS AMERICA - GOD BLESS THOSE WHO REMAIN, SUFFER, AND WITH COURAGE,
MOVE FORWARD WITH THEIR LIVES!
